MARCH 2014 HEADLINERS 

Borderlines is a group of multilingual, multicultural writers living and working in the Edmonton area.

                                       

     Pushpa Raj Acharya is a poet, fiction writer, and translator who immigrated to Canada from Nepal in 2012. His collections of  poems, Dream Catcher (in English) and Chhayakaal (“The  Phantom Time”, in Nepali), weave together the themes of inner  revelation, nature, history, and myth. He is currently working on a PhD in  Comparative Literature at the University   of Alberta.
  Rashmi Kumar is a professional journalist who worked for leading newspapers in India before moving to Canada in  2012. Her first novel, Stilettos in the Newsroom, was written in  English with a style heavily influenced by the Indian diaspora. Launched in  2010 by one of India’s  top publishers, the book remained in the country’s best sellers list for  nearly a month. 
  An award-winning Albanian writer from  Kosovo, Kadrush Radogoshi has published 16 books of poetry,  literary criticism, and novels in Albanian. His poems have been translated  and included in Swedish and Romanian anthologies. A past president of the  Writers’ Union of Kosovo, Kadrush taught literature until he immigrated to Canada in  2010.
  Maitham Salman was born in Iraq  and came to Canada  in 1998 as a political refugee. He has published a novel (Husks as big as  my Country) and a collection of short stories (The Dirhams of  Caliphate) in Arabic, as well as many articles and short stories in Arabic  newspapers and magazines. He has recently begun to find his literary voice in  English.

Jay Lewis / Enochian

Enochian is an acoustic folk band with rotating accompaniment around the lead vocalist and songwriter, Jay Lewis.  Jay is currently completing her third (unpublished) novel whilst playing receptionist at a sign shop, and hopes to record an album within the next six months.  In the mean time, her work is available through her website at www.jmmlewis.com/music

Hendrik Slegtenhorst 

Hendrik Slegtenhorst is a Canadian author, local government specialist, and business owner. His first poetry collection is Carravagio’s Dagger (Iguana, 2013). He has published extensively in literary publications and as a newspaper columnist on local government. He is a professional member of the Canadian Authors’ Association.
